In spite of the fact that Japan,\nKorea and China are all situated in East Asia, their diet cultures can be very different. Vietnamese\ndishes and Thai dishes are said to share almost the same ingredients but different spices. Some Japanese\ncomplain that contemporary Japanese dishes are stateless dishes. They are worried that their diet\nculture will not be marked by their national features, and therefore, a hotchpotch will be passed on to\nthe future generations. The author is of the opinion that this is only a superficial phenomenon, and the\ntruth is unveiled after long observation and reflection. The word “eating education” has been a popular\nexpression since years ago, just like “physical education” and “moral education”. Personally speaking,\nto be fashionable is not a bad thing, especially for young people. Even Europeans and Americans are no\nexceptions, and they are fashion followers too. Nothing is wrong with “imitation”. Internationalization\nshould not be blamed since it’s a trend. The Japanese has a history of welcoming foreign cultures, not\nto speak of the three-meal a day diet culture. But calls for valuing traditional diet culture can be heard\neverywhere. So, will the conclusion be reached that the well-known Japanese dishes in the world are\njust a combination of different countries?
