The main findings of the paper are as follows. First, in Shoku-Nihongi-Senmyo, kana of the particle, the auxiliary verb, and the end of a word have the function which expresses clearly the word form and the constitution of the sentence. Second, Kana of noun, verb, and adjective has four intentions : a)the intention of the expression clearly the word form which is based on the difficulty of writing in idcograph, b)the intention of the expression clearly the word form which is caused by plural readings, c)the intention of the reduction of the heterogeneity between ideograph and phonogram, d) the intention of expression clearly grammatical means by writing in phonogram. In these functions, a) and b) contains the sequence of character which has the function which expresses cleary the word form.
