Until now, research on “Japanese Language Expression” classes in university\neducation has often been conducted in the field of Japanese language education. However, the majors\nof the teachers in charge of such classes cannot be reduced to Japanese language education or Japanese\nlinguistics. In fact, all three authors of this paper majores in literature; comparative literature (Oba),\nmodern Japanese literature (Okawachi), and classical Japanese literature (Ninomiya). Therefore, it would\nbe possible to practice and analyze “Japanese Expression” classes from a broader perspective, such as\ngeneral education including literature, or the First-Year Experience (FYE) program.
