The target\narea of this study was the Kurosaki shopping district in Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu, which prospered as\na post town on the Nagasaki Highway connecting Buzen Kokura and Nagasaki, and developed as one of\nJapan’s four major industrial areas. As a research method, our study conducted a questionnaire survey\nin June 2019, with 166 pedestrians around the Kurosaki Shopping Street and Kurosaki Station areas. The\nsurvey results were aggregated into three groups according to generational age : those in their 10s and\n20s, those in their 30s and 40s, and those in their 50s and above. The χ2 test was then performed.\nA residual analysis revealed that a significantly higher number of those in their 10s and 20s made\nuse of social networking services (SNS) , however, they showed the lowest recognition of Kurosaki\nculture when, compared to other generations. A significantly lower number of those in the 50s and\nabove group made use of SNS, while, on the other hand, they showed the highest recognition of\nKurosaki culture.
