内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The aim of the present study was to examine whether nutritional intakes were affected by living styles of student athletes in Kyusyu Kyoritsu University. Twenty-six male and 14 female athletes each were divided into 3 groups ; group I (6 males, 3 females) lived home with family, group II (13 males, 6 females) lived in individual room at apartment house, and group III (7 males, 5 females) lived in an individual dormitory room. Average intakes of energy, protein, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins were lower than the dietary reference intakes (DRI) for athlete by 20% to 40%, and iron intake was lower by 50% in female athletes. Macro nutrients, mineral, and vitamin intakes, except for certain vitamins and dietary fiber, were within the allowance limit in male group I. All nutrient intakes of male group I was superior (P<0.05) to other male groups. No living style-related difference was existed in nutrient intakes of female subjects, and their intake levels of all nutrients were lower than DRI. In conclusion, the present study revealed that energy intakes of the student athletes who lived in either apartment house or the dormitory were lower than DRI, which suggested a energy deficiency in the students in performing their athletic activities.
